KINGSPORT — The Halloween Bash, billed as “the largest Halloween party in the Tri-Cities” (for the 18 and over crowd) and featuring a costume contest with $1,500 in prize money, returns for its third year to the Kingsport Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct. 27.

While last year’s costume contest drew more than 60 entries greeted by an enthusiastic, judging audience, the event also features live music, games, food trucks and more.

The Halloween Bash, presented by Bud Light, begins at  6 p.m. In addition to rock/country favorites Acoustifried’s three-hour live performance, a DJ will be on hand to keep the dance floor hopping.

The contest is presented by Halloween Express & the Dam Haunted Woods.

“We have really enjoyed doing this event the last few years and each year look to add a little something extra,” organizer James Phillips said. “This year we are adding professional fog machines by Froggy’s Fog and a huge new digital board that will really change the look of the venue.”

“We have such a great time at this event and the best part is we are having a great time and raising money for a great cause,” Keep Kingsport Beautiful Director Robin Cleary said. “Keep Kingsport Beautiful’s goal is to help clean up and educate the city of Kingsport and we are able to do more of that with the proceeds from the Halloween Bash.”

For $10, anyone can enter the $1,500 costume contest, and the winner will walk out of the Halloween Bash $1,000 richer than they walked in. Second- and third-place winners also will receive cash prizes.

“We love all the amazing costumes that come out to the Halloween Bash, so we want to reward as many people as possible,” Phillips said. “This year we will be giving prizes to the top five Halloween costumes, and the top three will be cash.”

SCHEDULE

The Halloween Bash doors open at 6 p.m. with food trucks, beer, soda and water sales, cornhole games, and a live DJ playing plenty of spooky Halloween tunes. At 8 p.m., Acoustifried takes the stage for their first of two sets. By 9:30 p.m., everyone will want to be registered for the Halloween Express & Dam Haunted Woods Costume Contest, because that’s when the judging will begin. Once the winners are crowned, Acoustifried will come back on stage for their second set at 10 p.m. and keep everyone dancing until the festival ends at midnight.

Tickets to the Halloween Bash are $7 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at www.halloweenbashkingsport.com.
